Experience

I have grown up in Unionville since I was 5 years old.  I started kindergarten at Community School, and it has been a part of my life ever since.  In high school, I was in the first band Community High ever had, and I was its first First Chair Flute and Section Leader in its history.  After I graduated from high school, I began working at Community's SACP while going to college.  When Motlow wasn't in session, I subbed at Community Elementary.

Shortly after my time at Motlow, I was hired as a Special Education Assistant at Community Elementary where I was able to work with many different teachers and students.  While I always knew I wanted to be a teacher, this time was spent learning the ins and outs of what is meant to be in the classroom everyday, and I knew without a doubt that teaching was my passion.  While working as an assistant, I took courses through University of Phoenix to complete my degree.  While working on the latter part of my degree, I worked at Central High School as a scribe for a deaf student.  During this time I learned and used ASL (American Sign Language) daily and the ins and outs of education on the high school level.

Upon completing my degree, I received an interim position teaching fourth grade from January until May.  That summer, I married the love of my life on July 4, 2015 just before beginning my job as a fifth grade math and science teacher.  This is where I still am, teaching fifth grade math and science in the very same classroom I had as my homeroom when I was in fifth grade, and my homeroom teacher taught math.  :-)

Bio

I was married to my husband, Christopher, on July 4, 2015.  Together, we enjoy playing games (video games, board games, and card games), reading, and binge-watching Netflix.

We share our house with multiple fur-babies, our kitties.  Two of them stay indoors exclusively.  Their names are Simon and Rory.  Simon came from Bedford County Animal Control and Rory was given to me by a friend.  Killigan is an indoor/outdoor cat and was raised by Christopher since he was a kitten.

In addition to our three boys we had before we got married, shortly after the wedding, a stray mother cat brought her babies to our house and left them.  So, Rosie and Isabelle have made their homes with us as indoor/outdoor cats.
